“I stayed here for one night, which just happened to correspond with their Oktoberfest! They had German beer tasting, first rate German food, and live music by a local band called the Woodcutters. I had a great time! Food was super delicious. My room was comfy and cozy, on the second floor, with a gorgeous view looking out across the Delta River valley. I’d like to stay longer next time and take advantage of some of the tour packages they’re putting together which includes dog mushing, glacier hiking, ice fishing and more. Sounds like a real Alaska Frontier experience. They’re also building a sauna and have plans to put in a hot tub. They have pet friendly rooms, and the staff and local patrons are wonderful. I met complete strangers who became immediate friends. I felt like I was at home.”

"Twenty-one women gathered to spend a long weekend in fellowship with one another. Taylor and Helen were our attentive hosts and tended to our every want and need. We had the whole lodge for our group and they accommodated the special dietary needs of several of our group with delicious alternatives for every meal. And the food – none of us experienced a single hunger pang the whole weekend! Every meal was prepared with fresh, healthy ingredients by loving hands. We had access to to the hot tub (a bit too hot!) and the sauna which were a short, snow-packed walk from the front door. When it came time to leave, we were all a bit reluctant, as it had all been so serene and beautiful. We will go back next year!”

“Lovely rustic Lodge with beautiful views.
This off the grid wonderful Lodge was the highlight of our Alaska visit. The staff was attentive and helpful. The rooms were clean and pretty. Food was good, not fancy but satisfying. Rooms were comfortable.
I don’t necessarily recommend this place for a quick stopover, especially if you are going to check in late and check out early. You need to stay a few nights to fully enjoy what it has to offer and relax.
We booked a private tour for the entire 4-night stay. The guide the owner selected for us was awesome. We explored the surrounding area, enjoyed the hot tub and sauna, and hiked the property.
WiFi is spotty but we had not expected much better. There is no cell service but my phone worked on WiFi setting in the public parts of the Lodge. You are in the middle of nowhere. They have to generate their own electricity. The closest supermarket is almost 3hrs away. The last thing I missed was a TV or hairdryer.
We booked all inclusive, so meals, beer and wine were not an issue. Coffee was good, hot and always available. Wines were very good. Beer selection was Alaskan.
Yes, it’s expensive comparatively, but there is nothing in Fairbanks (2:45 min away) or Delta Junction (0:45 min away) to compare this Lodge to. If you like scrambled eggs out of a plastic bag at the Marriott and breakfast at 6:00AM, this place is not for you. I plan on visiting again next time we adventure to Alaska."

“A beautiful lodge! We stopped here while traveling for 2 weeks in Alaska. The location is beautiful, situated high so you have a beautiful view. The staff was so friendly and hospitality was amazing. We had dinner and breakfast in the lodge as it is far from any restaurant plus we had a rain storm so it worked perfectly for us. Food was great. The owner sang for us. The room is clean, cozy and comfortable plus you have windows for such a beautiful view. Highly recommend!"

“Rest and Rejuvenation!
Rest and rejuvenation! we stayed for a weekend in early December. The Lodge at Black Rapids was just what we needed to rest, check out, and reset. Nita was the host the evening we arrived. She was so very welcoming, and helpful. We had to place ourselves, and felt so very spoiled! We had a wonderful meal of fresh baked salmon, soup, salad, and homemade dessert! The waitstaff was so attentive without being intrusive. After dinner, they readied the woodfired sauna for us!
Our second day did not disappoint! A yogurt parfait to start, then a home cooked omelette, potatoes, and fruit. Coffee is always fresh and hot, along with a variety of teas and cocoa. We spent a lovely day, relaxing, reading, napping. We had a lovely lunch. We never wanted for anything. Our second night we enjoyed steak and potatoes with squash, salad, and soup. Everything we ate was top-notch!
The owner, Annie played guitar and sang with her partner JD during dinner. What a lovely treat!
The Lodge is off the beaten path, remote yet so very comfortable and inviting. They have done a beautiful job here, following through with Annie’s vision, and with the restoration of the old black Rapids Lodge, now, historic site down below . I enjoyed reading about the history of the lodge and the area! I have been in Alaska for 27 years, and I am still surprised by my beautiful state, and the lodge of Black Rapids proved to be a gem."
